The Director of Inside Sales will be responsible for driving sales efforts in the Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory Legal Markets division with a focus on improving productivity, promoting industry best practices, developing sales strategies, driving new sales and retention, and managing a growing team of Inside Sales Reps. Focus areas include: sales process execution, renewal process execution, sales model productivity, training of sales personnel and sales performance analysis. The Director of Inside Sales will be hands-on providing mentorship and development to the Inside sales teams. The ideal candidate would be described as a proven Sales Leader and Data, Analytics and Business Intelligence enthusiast with a strong understanding of and/or curiosity about the importance of leveraging data to make critical business decisions.

  • Work with executive leadership team to develop sales strategies

  • Work with Sales Training to develop sales manuals, scripts and oversee sales training

  • Drive effective account management and new business development through innovative strategic and tactical sales techniques

  • Monitor, track and evaluate team performance based upon Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and provide personal ongoing support and feedback to team leads to ensure all company goals and standards are adhered to

  • Supervise workflow and quality of team members

  • Train and coach staff and manage performance

  • Interact as needed with other functional areas including talent acquisition, marketing, and information technology

  • Assist in making employment decisions and setting performance standards

  • Participates in the creation of and coordinates the implementation of the sales, compensation and marketing plans for the Telesales operations of the Business Unit

  • Develops business plans to implement key revenue generating company initiatives and sell new products and packages through Telesales resources

  • Works with Executive Management to set goals in line with Wolters Kluwer's objectives and market opportunity

  • Strategizes with marketing to create distinctive value propositions to maintain market leader position

  • Identifies and communicates industry and customer trends across segments and service lines supported

  • Creates and implements effective reporting tools with consistent measurement and analysis of ongoing performance of direct reports

  • Supports talent management processes through active leadership, coaching, recruiting and organizational development activity including talent review, training and cultivation of new leaders through the use of available programs and tools

  • Oversees annual budget for Telesales operation, monitors financial indicators for optimum financial management

  • Attains stated goals of account and revenue retention of customers on the suite of products by monitoring the day to day activities of telesales representatives and providing feedback where appropriate

  • Maintains effective communication with executives and managers across the company to ensure proper sensitivity to the needs of the telesales team

Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Sales Management, OR equivalent.

Preferred: MBA or advanced degree.


Minimum Experience: 10 or more years of related experience

Preferred Experience:

  • A Strong Proven leader in a sales environment

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in sales presentations, negotiation and closing techniques

  • Experience in planning, directing and managing a successful sales team

  • 3-5 years' experience preferably in a call center environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • A deep understanding of what it takes to hire, ramp, and manage entry level and early-stage sales teams and line level sales managers to a high level of performance

  • Great communication, coaching, and leadership skills

  • Strong hands on Manager & Communicator. You are a people person who is a great recruiter, motivator, mentor and coach with a proven track record in building high performing sales teams

  • Experienced, Proven Leader. You know what it takes to build and develop high-performing inside sales teams in today's changing markets

  • Successful and extensive experience with directing sales teams during periods of significant sales, marketing and product transition

  • Extensive experience with corporate team activities including cooperative development of successful programs executed by inside sales

  • Knowledge of the inside sales environment, sales process coaching and management, performance management, and employee recruiting is beneficial

  • Familiarity with application software products and services, customer relationship management (CRM) applications, Internet application, with competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Successful experience in driving programs designed to transition customer bases to new products and technologies


  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Tools and process enabling remote connection to internal systems

  • Sales management software

  • Excellent ability to work with a cross functional team
