Description

The Lines Projects group is responsible for high and medium voltage transmission line designs and project execution for all operating companies in Avangrid Networks. Line designs include structural or electrical calculations, routing, and preparation of engineering drawings. Project Management includes management of scope, schedule and cost to complete multi-million dollar transmission line upgrades using multi-discipline teams.

The electric delivery system in Maine contains approximately 2,600 miles of transmission lines and 317 substations. The electric delivery system in New York contains approximately 5,600 miles of transmission lines and 621 substations. The electric delivery system in Connecticut contains approximately 130 miles of transmission lines and 28 bulk electric supply substations.

This position reports to the Lines Projects Unit Manager, but the position will work day-to-day in cross functional project teams and support project needs as dictated by the Project Manager(s).

Major Roles and Responsibilities (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

Provide computer aided drafting using Bentley Microstation and AUTOCAD,

Maintain record documentation on transmission lines using Microsoft office and Bentley Projectwise,

Accompany AVANGRID personnel to the field to carry out surveying to locate transmission line assets,

Conduct inspections of transmission line projects in construction,

Provide administrative assistance to the Lines Projects Unit Manager and Project Managers,

Maintain project cashflows and schedules using MS Project,

Assist engineers with developing standards and procedures.

Required Education:

Enrolled at an accredited college or university to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or PhD in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering,

Have completed at least two consecutive semesters of full time course work at an accredited college or university,

A course work focus in Project Management is a plus,

Have an average GPA from the completed course work of 3.0.

Special Requirements and Other Information:

  • Students must provide their own transportation to and from work.

  • This is a paid position.

  • This position is set to begin May 29, 2018.
