U.S. Bank QA and Control Framework Analyst in Augusta, Maine

The Control Framework Analyst will be a key member of the Operational Risk Management (ORM) Governance, Framework and Reporting team. Primary responsibilities include: collecting and analyzing quality assurance and control environment data to support critical operational risk framework oversight and reporting requirements; review of business line activities and data to confirm compliance with policies; and facilitating routines and projects with RM&C and Business Line stakeholders. The Control Framework Analyst will use business line and other internal data to create engaging reporting and presentations for business lines, senior management, and Operational Risk Committee. Specifically this includes ad-hoc and quarterly quality assurance and control environment reporting, as well as identification of opportunities to improve tools, data collection and reporting processes.

Further, the Control Framework Analyst will help drive routines and deliverables with key risk management stakeholders in the First Line of Defense. They will participate in the identification and execution of projects and/or activities that will allow for more efficient and effective execution, reporting and oversight of program compliance. Finally, the Control Framework Analyst will work within the Enterprise Archer application to support our specific QA and Controls solutions, extract and review data, and answer end-user questions/issues. This position provides a strong opportunity for exposure to the operational risk programs at the Bank as well as interaction with internal partners across all three lines of defense.

Essential Functions:

  • Aggregate and analyze raw data using advanced Excel skills

  • Use data to create engaging reports and presentations for business lines, senior management, and Operational Risk Committee

  • Perform analysis and provide management with data insights to maintain an effective operational risk management framework

  • Create management dashboards, as needed

  • Facilitate meetings and routines to drive ongoing stakeholder education and support

  • Understand and review adherence to requirements of the Control Environment and Quality Assurance frameworks

  • Understanding of project management principles and coordinating improvement and delivery efforts

  • Ensure quality within data, reporting and presentations produced and presented

  • Engage with First and Second Line of Defense partners to develop rapport and credibility in order to drive improvements

  • Support ad hoc reporting requests from ORM, Senior Management, internal auditors, and regulatory examiners ensuring they are composed in a manner that is appropriate for each audience


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Seven to ten years of experience in an applicable risk management environment

  • Applicable professional certifications

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience in a reporting or governance capacity

  • Exposure to financial services industry and associated risk and compliance activities

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, development/maintenance of macros), and proficiency in PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in migrating key metrics derived through Excel to engaging PowerPoint presentations

  • Well-developed skills in analyzing data and assessing results

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a large corporate environment

  • Understanding of project and initiative management

  • Working knowledge of RSA/Archer platforms

  • Audit, risk management or regulatory compliance experience at a large financial institution

  • Ability to work at all levels of the organization, including with senior leadership

  • Strong project management and strategic planning skills
