Role Summary:

The Systems Architect will demonstrate leadership by developing and communicating systems architectures and setting technical direction for Advanced Technology teams responsible for implementation. In the role of Systems Architect, you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, the Systems Architect will :

  • Develop and investigate new aircraft system architectures and concepts

  • Interface with customers, partner companies, suppliers, and other senior leadership within the company

  • Participate in technical reviews of systems across the business

  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as subsystem avionics product groups and third party suppliers

  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company

  • PLEASE NOTE : Work location listed is Grand Rapids, MI. However, other US locations may be considered for this position, such as Clearwater, FL Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum 5 years of technical and/or project leadership experience in Military Avionics Systems or related Product design and development

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft systems and sub-systems requirements definition, design, architecture, integration, verification, and qualification

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in dealing with customers and suppliers and interfacing with senior leadership within the company ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

  • PLEASE NOTE : Work location listed is Grand Rapids, MI. However, other US locations may be considered for this position, such as Clearwater, FL Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience in defining architectures and requirements for aircraft systems

  • Ability to guide and lead others not in a direct reporting relationship

  • Strong technical and project leadership experience in aircraft systems development

  • Experience in sub-system requirements definition for mission systems, displays / crew interface systems, navigation sensors and radios, datalink, autoflight systems, on-board maintenance systems, integrated surveillance systems, environmental / thermal control systems, propulsion systems and other aircraft systems

  • Experience with ARINC 661, ARINC 664 and ARINC 653 development standards

  • Experience with DO-178B, DO-254, DO-297, ARP-4754 certification standards

  • Experience using models and modeling tools to simulate and validate architectures and system designs

  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes including requirements definition, aircraft integration, flight testing, system safety, and requirements verification

  • Familarity with model tools and processes to automate and streamline aircraft systems engineering

  • Experience in technical and project leadership for aircraft programs

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
